description: By integrating all aspects of mental and physical recovery into a cancer treatment center by using materiality, social interaction, and integration into landscape, we can positively improve the mental state of the cancer patient. In the past, there has been such tunnel vision in the medical field to heal and cure the body, as a result the mind has been neglected. The focus needs to be shared to heal the mind as well as the body because there is so much research supporting the fact that the mental state of the individual has a large effect on physical recovery. We can start to see a shift in medical centers where they are starting to incorporate space for mental and emotional support, but it is not enough. There is more that can be done and the boundaries can be pushed further to think more about the mental state of the patient.
