description: There are subliminal moments everywhere. We don’tperhaps notice them due to the rushed nature ofour daily schedules. When was the last time we hadfree time and decided to go for a walk in the woods?When was the last time we felt renewed/revived bytaking the time to stop and smell the roses, or bepart of a space? We often refer to architecture in thesense that it houses a purpose or program. What ifinstead, the mindset shifted to an idea of experienceand setting? If we shift to this idea, we begin toconnect to place through our bodies; the senses. Thisconnection roots us in space, and suddenly we areliving in the moment.Walden Pond is a location rich in the everydaysublime. The way rain runs down tree leaves until itfinally hits the ground to be absorbed. The way theanimals are free to roam as they please, withoutworrying about interrupting human activity. There isa sense of wildness but yet control to this site, andthis is partially what makes it so compelling. You areboth foreign and one with the land.The proposal is an architecture that takes theseideas into account. It is an architecture that takesinspiration from the site it rests on, expressing themost relatable components through the project. It isan architecture that is sensitive to the environmentand interacts with it gently. It is an architecture thatadds to the experience of the site; one that focuseson the user understanding their place in relation tonature. This experience alone makes people moreaware of their impact, and therefore more consciousabout their effect.
